MiTeen training is aimed at adolescents between the ages of 11 and 17 who suffer from migraines and tension headaches. The aim of this psychological intervention project is to reduce the severity of the adolescents' headaches and the associated stress for them and their families.
At the beginning of the treatment, a detailed diagnosis is made in order to identify the factors that have contributed to the development and maintenance of the pain symptoms.
This is followed by group training. This consists of 3 group sessions for the parents and 8 group sessions for the adolescents.
The program includes a preliminary appointment for detailed diagnostics. This is followed by the treatment and a debriefing appointment. After three months, another debriefing appointment takes place, which on the one hand serves as scientific proof of the success of the treatment and on the other hand offers another opportunity to discuss the current status. The appointments take place by personal arrangement.
At the initial consultation and at the follow-up appointments, you will receive various questionnaires related to the headache and associated behaviors of the adolescents and their parents. We ask you to fill them out carefully.
Participation in the training is free of charge. The costs for the diagnostics are usually covered by the health insurance companies. Therefore, please bring your health insurance card to the diagnostic appointments. It is also essential that you complete the questionnaires at all examination times!
Adolescents aged 11-17 years who have been suffering from migraine and tension headaches for at least one month, as well as their parents, can participate.
